then respectable Chief Minister of Karnataka, Sri Ramakrishna Hegde in the holy
presence of Padmabhushana Dr.Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Maha Swamiji.
The institute is premier rural
educational institution catering to the health needs of the rural populace in
preventive, therapeutic and rehabilitative domains beside teaching and training
for Undergraduate (UG) of MBBS and Post Graduate (PG) students.
The institute aims to provide
medical education to aspiring students from rural areas. Earlier the institute
was under Mysore University and now it comes under the purview of Rajiv Gandhi
University of Health Sciences (RGUHS).
