U.P. Unaided Medical Colleges Welfare Association is a consortium of Unaided Non Minority Medical Colleges in Uttar Pradesh formed under the directions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court judgement in Islamic Academy of Education Vs. State of Karnataka.

The Association has been registered under the Societies Registration Act (Act No. 21 of 1860), Registration No. 346/2006/07 dated 20. 07. 2006. The Association is an authority to conduct Uttar Pradesh Combined Medical Entrance Test "UPCMET" for admission in the First Year of MBBS course of the member colleges.

Fired by the desire to provide health care and other essential services to the people of this region, Dr TMA Pai transformed the plateau into what it now is. He turned the wilderness into a sanctuary of education.

In 1953, he set up Kasturba Medical College, the first private medical college in the voluntary sector. And, with that began the story of Manipal University. Then, in 1957 came the engineering college, the dental college, pharmacy college and so on and so forth. Initially, these institutes were affiliated to different universities.

Dr TMA Pai passed on the baton of leadership to his son, Dr Ramdas M Pai who is the present President and Chancellor of the University.

Located on the west coast of South India, Manipal was a barren wasteland, a plateau with wild animals. It was this plateau that Dr TMA Pai decided to change. His vision for Manipal covered a wide spectrum of interests because he himself donned many hats. He was a physician, an educationist, a banker and above all, a philanthropist at heart.

Then in 1993, MAHE was accorded a deemed university status under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The K S Hegde Medical Academy was established in 1999 by the Nitte Education Trust (NET). The institute is named after the visionary and founder, late Justice K S Hegde, former Justice of the Supreme Court and former Speaker of the Lok Sabha.

A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, the 25 year old dental college was the first constituent college of Nitte University. The odds the visionary team had to contend with were many, but the co-operation and encouragement received from several quarters made the dream project a reality. The Government of Karnataka under the stewardship of Sri.R.Gundu Rao accorded sanction to the Ananda Trust to start a medical college on 6th July 1981 at Cooke Town. Subsequently, the Karnataka Government and Sri.B.Basavalingappa extended generous help with the allotment of 25 acres of land at Kadugondanahalli, at virtually no cost, to build its own campus. The Trust, which also runs a Dental College, a School of Nursing, a college of Physiotherapy as well as institutes of Medical Laboratory Technology and Radiography, has rich experience in the field of education. Its motto is to serve the weaker sections of the community, handicapped socially, educationally & economically.

Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Medical College has been established in the year 1981 by Ananda Social and Education Trust,with the objective of providing Primary, Secondary and Tertiary health care facilities to the deserving. The institution also envisages provision of quality medical education both for Undergraduates and Post graduates.

Every student shall undergo a period of certified study extending over 4 ½ academic years from the date of commencement of his/her study for the subject comprising the medical curriculum to the date of completion of the examination followed by one year compulsory rotating Internship. The 4 ½ years course has been divided into three phases.

1.Phase – I   - 1 year, consisting of 2 terms of 6 months each.

2.Phase – II  - 1 ½ years, consisting of 3 terms of 6 months each.

3.Phase – III - 2 years, consisting of 4 terms  

The first year shall be occupied in the study of the Phase-I (Pre Clinical) subject of Human Anatomy(650 hrs), Physiology including Bio Physics (480 hrs), Biochemistry (240 hrs) and Introduction to Community Medicine (60 hrs). 

     

After passing pre-clinical subjects in Phase-I, the Phase-II shall be 3 terms (1 ½ years) devoted to Para Clinical and Clinical subjects. Para Clinical subjects shall consist of Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine including Toxicology and part of Community Medicine. During this phase the clinical subjects shall be taught concurrently. The clinical subjects taught will be Medicine and its allied specialities, surgery and its allied specilities and Obstetrics and Gynecology.

      

Phase-III  Part-I ( 2 terms ) consists of Community Medicine, ENT and Ophthalmology

Phase-III Part-II ( 2 terms) consists of  Medicine and its allied specialities, Surgery and its allied specialities, Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Admission through Management/NRI Quota 2011

Admission under/Through/By Management Quota/NRI Quota:-

In India All the Medical college comes under two category

1. Government college(Managed By Central Govt or State Govt)
2. Private college or Un-Aided/Aided college ( Managed By Trust or Society ) 

Government college engineering seats are filled by Medical entrance test like(AIPMT or state entrance test), and its depends on candidate performance (rank/score), but private college or  Un-Aided/Aided college have the permission to fill some engineering seats by eligible candidate directly under management quota/NRI quota, remaining seat filled by Medical entrance test(vary state to state).

Fees structure for allotted seats(for rank holders)  will be fix by govt body and for Management quota/NRI Quota, college management will decide.

Note-:

1. Management quota/NRI Quota seats are not available in any govt college   
2. Even in all private college also there are no management/NRI Quota.
