J.J.M. Medical College, Davangere was established in the year 1965, affiliated to Mysore University, Mysore and to Kuvempu University, Shankaraghatta, Shimoga District from 1987 and later to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, Bangalore since 1996. The institution with a mandate to work
towards developing socially responsible and competent health work force is striving continuously to meet the health needs of the region in a tertiary level responsibility. It is carryingout need based health system research work with an eye to use such strategies to cover the overall community development.

Locatioin:- Davangere also known as 'Devanagari' is situated in the heart of Karnataka. It is well connected by Rail and Road from all important cities and towns of the state. It lies on the Mumbai-Poona-Bangalore Railway route.It is at a distance of 265 km from Bangalore on the National Highway No. 4.
Hospital:- The Teaching Hospitals include, Bapuji Hospital, Bapuji Child Health Institute and Research Center, Chigateri General Hospital ( District Hospital) and Women and Children Hospital. The total bed strength of these tertiary care hospitals are in excess of 2210 beds.
The hospitals have facilities in General Medicine, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Radiodiagnosis and Anesthesiology. To keep pace with the changing health delivery system, facilities have been provided by establishing departments of Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Gastroenterology, Nephrology and Neonatology.
