Medical College was started in 1963 with mission to bring out quality doctors by imparting quality education to meet the present and changing expectation of the people and improving the health status of the people of this region by offering health care and providing optimum training facilities for Medical students.
In 1973, Sri. Mahadevappa Rampure, the architect & founder of the Medical College left to heavenly abode and to salute his vision, dynamism and hard work in establishing this College, it was named after him as "Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College"

Admission Details
The students seeking admission to the first year MBBS course in Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College, Gulbarga shall appear in the Competitive entrance test conducted by the concerned authorities as per the approval of the college from time to time. The entrance test is presently conducted by COMEDK for All India students and KEA (CET Cell) for Karnataka students. The selection and counseling for admission will be made as per merit list published by the concerned authorities.Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates should have passed 12th standard and should have obtained 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (taken together) and should have passed English as one of the subjects.
- The candidates should have completed 17 years of age as on the 31st December of the year of admission.
- Selection is through COMED-K and CET
