Dr. BR Ambedkar
Medical College in Bangalore is run by the Anandaa Social and Education
Trust and was founded in 1981. The college is built on a sprawling area of 25
acres of land and has mammoth buildings that commandeer everybody’s attention.
Dr. BR Ambedkar Medical College has a hospital annexed to it that accommodates
nearly 600 beds. The college has a great reputation since its inception has
given the country a number of good doctors.
There are numerous facilities in the college from state of
the art labs and classrooms to excellent faculty. The college aims at a
holistic education and has a lot of sports and other cultural activities hosted
regularly to serve as a distraction and also to give the students a breather
from their hectic academic schedules. As soon as the entrance exam results are
out, Dr. BR Ambedkar Medical College’s admissions fill up. The seats in almost
every program offered here are coveted by money and the Dr. BR Ambedkar Medical
College’s fee structure is as per the university norms.
Eligibility and Admission Criteria:
- Candidates seeking admission to MBBS course should have passed the two year Pre-University course /Standard XII (10+2) examination with physics, Chemistry and Biology as electives with English as one of the subject
- 50% of the aggregate marks in electives taken together at the qualifying examination and CET/COMED-K entrance tests
- For OBC 3A category and SC/ST students of Karnataka , required marks is relaxed to 40% in the electives. Otherwise the eligibility conditions remain the same for them also.
- The Registrar, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences is the authority to decide equivalence of any other examination hence clarification may be sought directly from him.
- The candidates should have completed 17 years of age as on 31 December of the year of admission
- The candidates from other states seeking admission to MBBS course must obtain eligibility

Selection Criteria:
- 40% of the seats reserved for Karnataka students. The selection of students is on the basis of merit in the common entrance test conducted by Govt of Karnataka followed by centralized counseling
- 40% of the seats are reserved for any India National including Karnataka. The selection is on the basis of merit in the common entrance test conducted by consortium of Medical, Dental and Engineering Private colleges of Karnataka (Comed-K) followed by centralised counselling
- Remaining 20% of the seats are to be filled by the Management, of which 15% is for Foreign Nationals/NRI and 5% for Institutional preference quota .
