The University Status
After almost two decades of work as an affiliated Medical College, earlier of Shivaji University, Kolhapur and later of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, based on excellent and constant academic performance, a very strong and aesthetic infrastructural system, efficient and transparent governance and distinct potential for future progress , the department of Secondary and Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, on the recommendations of University Grants Commission under section 3 of UGC act of 1956, vide its resolution No. F.9-26/2004-U3 dated 1st September 2005, has accorded the University status to D.Y.Patil Education Society consisting of D.Y. Patil Medical College with immediate effect.

In the last decade Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University (BVDU) has emerged as a global university with a wide offering of programs and courses spanning varied educational faculties. The University Grants Commission which is the apex body concerned with higher education in India made an assessment of the academic excellence achieved by the institutions of Bharati Vidyapeeth through a committee of experts and on the recommendation of the UGC, the Government of India accorded the status of "Deemed to be University" to twelve institutions of Bharati Vidyapeeth in Pune on 26th April, 1996 vide their notification No. F.9-15/95-U.3

Jawahar Medical Foundation
Jawahar Medical Foundation is the brain child of Late Shri Annasaheb Chudaman Patil. The registration of the foundation in 1984 manifests the foresightedness of indefatigable Rev. Annasaheb Patil and is still catering to the needs of the people of the region. The first major achievement came in 1989, when a charitable general hospital was set up to look after the health needs of the rural population of Dhule district. Initially, the hospital had only 150 beds, and was run on no-loss-no-profit basis. In 1989, the foundation started an urban health center inside the Dhule city at lane no 4 and another rural health center at Village Mundalwad in Dhadgaon Taluka (an Adivasi area). Thereafter, activities of the foundation picked up fast as indicated by the following developments:

The Karnataka Private Medical & Dental Colleges Association, and Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association in their endeavour to offer an effective, fair and objective testing procedure to determine merit of students seeking admissions to the Member Institutions, have formed "Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka” COMEDK.
COMEDK has been assigned the task of organising a Common Entrance Test for the academic year 2011-2012, for candidates aspiring to pursue Under Graduate courses Medical, Dental and Engineering Colleges in the State of Karnataka, in member institutions of the Consortium (Medical, Dental and Engineering Colleges).
COMEDK entrance test & publication of test score and rank list will be followed by centralized counseling (Single window system). The details will be published in due course on our website.
The list of the Member Institutions who would be participating in the COMEDK testing program, along with the courses offered by them for the year 2011-2012, will be published on our website in due course.
