Aarupadai Veedu
Medical College and Hospital, was founded at Pondicherry in the year
2000, with due approval from the Government of India and Medical Council of
India.
The first batch of 100 Medical students was admitted successfully for the academic year 2000-2001. Presently 800 students are studying in the College.
The institute is recognized by Government of India and
Pondicherry State government and is affiliated with University of Pondicherry.
All pre-clinical and Para-clinical departments are located
in the college premises. They are fully
equipped with their own Laboratory, Library, Demonstration Room and Museum.
The medical colleges of Pondicherry offers an group of
medical programs which includes, undergraduate and post-graduate courses,
super-specialty programs, diploma courses, certificate and doctoral programs.

MBBS is an undergraduate degree in medicine which enables
one to register as a medical practitioner and pursue Post Graduate degrees in
various fields of medicine. The entire course at VMU is completed in four and a
half years followed by one year of internship.
