Jawaharlal Institute
of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research, Pondicheery abbreviated as JIPMER was come into
existence in the year 1823 in Pondicherry under Government of India and is one
of the famous medical institutes in India.
The institute objective is to develop well qualified health
professionals in the service of nation. It is located 170 kms from Chennai and
spreds over 195 acre campus in an urban locale.
The institute offers undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG)
and super specialty Medical Training through a working hospital with bed
strength of 1500 and a Nursing College.
The institute is a medical school in India, and the oldest
to teach European medicine in Asia. It is located at Pondicherry, the capital
of the union territory of Pondicherry, in southern India.
The college is an Indian central government funded institute
with autonomy to run its internal administration.
