KS Hegde Medical Academy
was established in 1999 by the Nitte Education Trust. The college is named
after the visionary and founder, late Justice KS Hegde, former Justice of the
Supreme Court of India and former Speaker of the Lok Sabha and social worker.
The Institution has made
rapid progress towards being recognized as a medical school with high academic
standards delivering quality health care with an emphasis on promoting social
responsibility in its students. In keeping with the vision and mission of Nitte
University, K.S Hegde Medical Academy strives to generate competent and humane
professionals empowered to face future challenges with ethical integrity.
KSHEMA has been
proactive in developing and adopting teaching-learning activities that provide
its students with the best opportunities for training. Initiatives like a
Mentorship program, Skill Laboratory, integrated learning, e-learning resources
and objective assessment practices are the highlights of the academic programs
offered by the institution. The Institution takes pride in its dedicated
faculty and support staff who strive to create a conducive environment for the
students to grow into competent professionals.
The Institution has
demonstrated a commitment to develop an active research program and has
successfully generated substantial support from external funding agencies. The
Institution has collaborations and research linkages with international and
national organizations like the Wake Forest University, USA, University of
Toronto, Canada, BARC Research Center – Mangalore University, India and St.
John’s Research Institute, India. Both undergraduate and post-graduate students
are encouraged to participate in research activities.
Over the last three
decades of concerted efforts and dedication, the Nitte Education Trust has come
to be recognized as one of the finest educational organizations in the State,
attracting students from all over the country and abroad.
